SolarTech were invited to present by the National Housing Federation at their recent “Feed-in Tariff event” held in the Caledonian Club in London. There were over 100 representatives from Local Authorities and Housing Association sectors and all areas of The Feed-in Tariff and Free Energy Schemes were covered.
SolarTech C.E.O. Mark Bullock carried out the presentation. Other presenters included the Energy Saving Trust together with legal and financial overviews.
A common messages from presenters was that the lead time on these projects can be long (up to 5 months) and the legal costs could be significant. The consensus seemed to be that a “Free Energy” approach delivered via a separate S.P.V. (special purpose vehicle) was the preferred route from a legal, tax and funding perspective.
SolarTech’s Free Energy Programme delivers free P.V. installations using exactly this model and we were one of the few Companies with a long-term track record in delivering renewables into the Social Housing Sector. It was also highlighted that there is a limited window of opportunity to deliver these programmes over the first two years of the Feed-in tariff programme where enhanced tariffs are available.
