Heat Pumps

Ground Source Heat Pumps in Milton Keynes

Heat Pumps work in a similar way as a refrigerator but works in reverse. Ground source heat pumps basically take heat from under the ground and convert it to usable heat through a heat pump. This type of heat is beneficial for space heating and domestic hot water heating. The cycle of the ground source heat pump is highly efficient as it can deliver up to 4kW of heat energy for every kW of energy input into the system.

Another method of capturing heat energy is using Air Source Heat Pumps. They function in a similar way to ground source heat pumps but they capture the heat energy in the air instead of the ground. Ground source heat pumps haven proven to be more efficient as air source heat pumps produce fewer units. Air source heat pumps will deliver around 3kW of heat energy for every kW of energy input into the system.

A Ground Source unit installation works out to be higher in cost compared to Air Source Heat Pump. An Air Source Heat Pump requires less installation space as well, which would make it beneficial if space is an issue. If you are interested with either of these units then our designers will advise you on which unit will be more beneficial with installations and “whole life costs.”

The renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) in Buckingham

Ground Source and Heat Pump systems can also be integrated with solar panel systems, and also solar hot water heating systems and also interface particularly well with under floor heating. An alternative way of providing new homes with heating is the Ground Source Heat Pumps system. You will eligible for payments under the RHI (Renewable Heat Incentive), which is a government scheme to encourage the application of renewable energy systems when Air or Ground Source Heat Pumps are installed.

Anyone who has had a ground source heat pump installed from July 29 2011 will receive £1,250 ‘premium payment’ thanks to the Renewable Heat Incentive and then from October 2012 they will receive ongoing RHI payments. If you require more information then please visit funding page.
