Ground Source Heat Pumps in Oxford

At Solartech we are the professionals who specialise with solar panel systems and different types of heat pumps. Ground Source Heat Pumps function by retrieving heat from under the ground and making this into usable heat through the use of a heat pump. This systems is equivalent to the way a refrigerator works but in reverse. By delivering up to 4kW of heat energy for every kW input into the system, the ground source heat pump cycle has been proven to be high efficient.

The other alternative can be the air source heat pump, which works in similar to ground source heat pump but instead of gathering heat source through the ground, it collects the heat from the air. The Air source heat pump only produces up to 3kW of heat energy for every kW energy that is inputted into the system, which makes them slightly less efficient compared to the ground source method.

The air source unit installation is lower than the ground source unit and it also requires less space. If you were interested in purchasing one of these unit than our designers at Solartech will advise you on what type of system would be best suited to your need in terms of installation and “whole life costs”.

The Renewable Heating Incentive in Bicester

The benefits of having solar panel installations and solar hot water heating systems are that air source and Ground Source Heat Pump systems can be integrated with them. They can also be interfaced with under floor heating. For new homes, Ground Source Heat Pumps have been an ideal and alternative way for heating. The renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) is a government scheme that encourages people to switch to renewable energy systems. So when a air or ground source heat pump system is installed, this makes you eligible for payments through the RHI.

Since July 29, 2011 anyone who has had a ground source heat pump installed should receive a £1,250 ‘premium payment’ and any from October 2012 will receive on going renewable heating incentive (RHI) Payments. If you require more information the see our funding page.

Underfloor Heating is a great way to heat your property quickly and efficiently as it heats the room from the floor up, and spreads across the entire room. This means that you feel the effects of the warmth in the room a lot quicker than from traditional radiators. As well as heating your property quicker, underfloor heating works very well when used with ground source and air source heat pumps meaning not only do you heat your home or business property quicker, you will save money on your heating bills too!
