Ground Source Heat Pumps in Swindon
HOW IT WORKS
The Ground Source Heat Pump cycle can deliver up to 4kW of heat energy for every kW of energy input into the system, making it very efficient. Ground Source Heat Pumps use heat from under the ground, which is converted into useable heat via a heat pump. The heat produced can be used for domestic hot water and space heating.
Air Source Heat Pumps work in a similar way to Ground Source Heat Pumps, but harvest heat energy in the air as opposed to heat energy from the ground. Typically an air source heat pump will deliver around 3kW of heat energy for every kW of energy input into the system. Air Source Heat Pumps are therefore generally less efficient compared to Ground Source Heat Pumps.
The advantages of using Air Source Heat Pumps are that it requires less space than a ground source unit and the installation cost is lower than that of a Ground Source Heat Pump. If you are considering having a Ground Source Heat Pump or Air Source Heat Pump installed, our designers can help you decide which method is the most suitable when considering “whole life costs” and installation costs.
THE RENEWABLE HEAT INCENTIVE (RHI) IN READING
Air Source and Ground Source Heat Pump systems can be integrated with solar systems, including solar hot water heating systems. Ground and Air Source Heap Pump systems also interface particularly well with under floor heating. Further, Ground Source Heat Pumps are an excellent solution to provide a new home with alternative heating. In addition, you may be eligible for payments under the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) when you install an air or ground source heat pump system.
Underfloor Heating in Swindon & Reading
If you are looking to upgrade the heating in your home or business, contact SolarTech for free advice on underfloor heating. You will feel the effects of this system a lot quicker than traditional radiators because with an underfloor heating system, the floor itself becomes the heat emitter, and the heating of the room goes from the floor up. Underfloor heating systems are more energy efficient than traditional radiators, as they require less energy to run.
Because of its lower energy requirements, underfloor heating can be run off solar panels in the form of a solar thermal system, or heat pumps. This means that your home or company can be heated using water, which is heated from the sun, making it significantly energy efficient, and helping to reduce your carbon footprint.
Additionally you are able to get rid of bulky radiators, meaning more space in your rooms!
